After escaping the midges of Glencoe, our new base outside Oban has opened up further opportunities to explore Scotland and play with our cameras.
From Oban, we took the local ferry over to the island of Mull, we then travelled by bus to “hop” onto a small boat to get over to the tiny island of Staffa where we had the chance to explore Fingal’s cave which is made up of the most amazing and bizarre basalt rock columns.
From Staffa we set sail again for the island of Iona, which is famous for its peace, tranquillity, historic Abbey and rather slippery rock pools! During the crossing to Iona, a gust of wind took hold of two of the return tickets to Oban… oops!
Top tips when island hopping:
1. Keep a firm hold of your tickets when on boats…. otherwise they end up in the sea!
2. Ticket collectors tend to only read the top ticket!
3. Watch your step when exploring the rock pools unless you want to wash your jeans!
